Laut einer amtlichen Statistik aus dem Jahre 1902 gab es damals in Vianden 2551 Nussbäume, was 19% des gesamten Landesbestandes an Nussbäumen ausmachte. Der Ertrag betrug 1901 im Kanton Vianden 465 Zentner Nüsse. Es gab in Vianden einige Nussgrosshändler, aber auch zahlreiche kleinere Händler und Handwerker, die ihre Nüsse auf verschiedenen Märkten...

'Meekränz' on the 1th of May

Each year on the 1th of May the local associations make 'Meekränz'. The tradition is to collect branches with fresh leaves in the local forests, weave them into Meekränz (May wreaths) and hang on the front of a building in the centre of the town or village: the municipal authorities' office or a café.
